The RICAM special semester on "Optimization" covers various aspects of optimization.
Besides more classical themes like PDE-constrained and nonsmooth optimization or
feedback control the activities during the semester put a special focus on new
trends and developments in this field like e.g. numerical methods for data science,
influence of uncertainties, nonlocal effects or conic and copositive optimization.
The main core of the special semester are seven workshops that are organized by
internationally known scientists during the three months of October until December
in 2019. This will be complemented by distinguished long-term guests.
