Abstract:
We consider different phenomenon arising in the theory of linear shells. These include the pathological case of ill-posed nature of the limiting membrane problem in the case of sensitvie shells as well as the 'new' layer scales arising in cases were the curvature of the shell vanishes. For both cases we present both theoretical and computational considerations.
