Computational aspects in soft tissue mechanics with a focus on the cardiovascular system
Workshop on Biomechanics and Chemotaxis, Fri, 14 Dec, 2007
Speaker: Gerhard Holzapfel
Abstract
Computational biomechanics of soft biological tissue is increasing our ability to address multi-disciplinary problems of academic, industrial, and clinical importance. The talk will review parts of our current knowledge of computational approaches that are considered to solve problems with the structural and material complexities of soft biological tissues.
Attention is focused on the cardiovascular system (and its inherent pathologies), and some related mathematical models approached from the solid mechanics point of view. Different applications with clinical interest are discussed.
