Models for genetic evolution in large populations
Workshop on Biomechanics and Chemotaxis, Wed, 12 Dec, 2007
Speaker: Fabio Chalub
Abstract
A model for the evolution of a given population should
include both random evolution and natural selection.
In this talk we will define some finite population
evolutionary processes and find some Fokker-Planck
type partial differential equation as the large population
limit of these processes. These equations are of
degenerate type, i.e., coefficients are zero on the
boundaries and this introduces some technical problems.
We also obtain the replicator dynamics as the small
diffusion limit of these equations.
