Morphology of single and multicomponents lipid vesicles
Workshop on Pattern Formation and Functional Morphology, Fri, 11 Jan, 2008
Speaker: Qiang Du
Abstract
Biomembranes are ubiquitous in life and they play important roles in
cell functions. In this talk, we report recent works on the modeling and
simulation of the complex morphology of single and multicomponents lipid
vesicles and their interaction with background fluid and substrate, as
well as membrane mediated protein interactions. Our approach is based on a
diffuse interface framework which is systematically derived and rigorously
analyzed mathematically. Coupled with adaptive computational techniques,
the effectiveness of the our approach is demonstrated via comparisons with
recent experimental studies.
