Modelling cell adhesion in development and disease

Abstract
Cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion are key processes in many developmental and pathological process. I will describe a new model for adhesion, and will demonstrate it's ability to reproduce standard in vitro experimental results on the sorting of disassociated cell populations. I will then describe the application of the model to two problems: somite formation in early development, and the development of an invasive phenotype in solid tumours.
