Computational geometry optimization methods have become increasingly important for the design of structures and devices across a wide range of engineering disciplines — for example, in the design of electric machines, which play a crucial role in the energy transition. Common techniques include parametric and free-form shape optimization, (de-)homogenization, and topology optimization using density-based or level-set-based design representations. In many engineering applications, the optimal distribution of multiple materials, the integration of multi-physics phenomena, and the consideration of manufacturability constraints are critical factors. To address these challenges, optimization algorithms must be broadly applicable and computationally efficient. The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts working on both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of advanced design optimization methods.
