School 1: October 10-15, 2016
Analysis and Numerics of Acoustic and Electromagnetic Problems
Organizers
- Dirk Pauly (Essen, Germany)
- Sergey Repin (St. Petersburg, Russia)
Local Co-Organizers
- Ulrich Langer (Linz, Austria)
- Mourad Sini (Linz, Austria)
Main topics
The school will provide lectures within the topic of electromagnetic problems governed by
Maxwell's equations and will cover both analytical and numerical aspects in equal shares.
The lectures will be interesting for an audience of rather different levels: from basic
(introductory) questions, tools and theories to quite advanced topics.
The lectures will cover different aspects, namely, physical motivations, mathematical
formulations, mathematical tools, solution theories as well as numerical methods and
error control techniques.
Some key words: general operator theoretical setting, solution theories, Maxwell estimates, Helmholtz decompositions, finite element method, boundary element method, a posteriori error estimates
