Title of the contribution: Mathematical modeling of perfectly elasto-plastic problems
Abstract:
The talk is focused on problems that arise in the modeling of perfectly elasto-plastic media. The respective boundary-value
problems essentially differ from those in linear elasticity and plasticity with hardening because the initial setting for the displacement vector-valued function is mathematically incorrect. Proper mathematical extension (relaxation) of such problems leads to formulations in special type functional spaces that include discontinuous functions.
In fact, such discontinuous solutions can be used to model the very initial stage of fracture. Another way considered in the talk concerns modeling of stresses. The main result consists of that a sequence of regularized models can be used for computing stresses in perfectly elasto-plastic body provided that the regularization and mesh parameters are connected by a certain relation.
The Institute is named after the famous Austrian mathematician Johann Radon (1887-1956)
